Litigation Paralegal Duties: Performs substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts. Drafts legal documents; compiles, analyzes and summarizes data, perform legal research through computerized networks; may utilize software applications/databases to manage complex legal matters; and has client contact. Prepare Affidavits. Attend meetings with client(s) and conduct follow-up meetings with client(s) as necessary throughout case. Create and maintain status reports (parties, experts, issues, work in progress, work yet to be done, etc.). Keep in contact with client on a monthly basis, including forwarding a copy of the status report to clients on a monthly basis. Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with the client, so long as the client is aware of the status and function of the paralegal. Prepares correspondence of a confidential nature. Ability to E-File. Client contact through correspondence, e-mail and phone. Obtains and maintains working knowledge of areas of practice Enters time into firm software Has knowledge/is familiar with specialized legal policies, procedures, formats and terminology. Assists the firms attorneys in the delivery of legal services. May also, under the supervision of a lawyer, perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts. May utilize software applications/databases to manage complex legal matters Document review utilizing firms preferred eDiscovery software Locate and interview witnesses. Conduct investigations and statistical and documentary research. Conduct legal research. Summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony. Author and sign correspondence provided the paralegal status is clearly indicated and the correspondence does not contain independent legal opinions or legal advice. Qualifications: Prefer 3-5 years of civil litigation experience. Must be able to multitask and be organized and detailed. Good understanding of motion practice. Team environment.
