Employment Attorney Duties: Advising clients on a variety of compliance matters from hiring, wage and hour issues, leaves of absence and accommodations, investigations, disciplinary actions, reductions in force, and terminations. Reviewing employment-related agreements, such as non-competition agreements, confidentiality agreements and severance agreements, as well as internal employment policies and procedures, and advising clients regarding their enforceability and effective implementation. Drafting and revising similar employment-related agreements as referenced above. Participating in marketing efforts, such as writing blog articles, speaking at webinars and conferences, and providing trainings on employment law topics. Client consultations are typically provided by email, phone call and video conference; however, the position also requires meeting with clients in person on occasion. Qualifications: A license to practice law in NC in good standing. Must have 3 years of legal experience, with at least 1 full year focused on employment law experience specifically. JD from an ABA-accredited institution. Previous experience preparing and presenting webinars and presentations on HR and employment law-related topics. Must be a good listener and a clear communicator to provide plain-language advice to a variety of organizations and individuals at various levels (from administrators to executives and company owners). Must be detailed. Must have a service/teaching mentality. Must be an effective multi-tasker with the ability to triage and prioritize multiple client requests and questions on a regular basis. Strong drafting, editing, and writing skills. Strong practical problem-solving ability to make quick decisions concerning best practices. Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgment, and a strong ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Must be able to work independently with limited oversight; and. In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite products (i.e. Gmail, Google Calendar, GoogleMeet). Previous work experience in human resources. Previous work experience counseling clients in a variety of industries. Previous work experience in litigation. Some OSHA, labor, business immigration, workers compensation, and/or ERISA experience. A working knowledge of Westlaw, Practical Law and Firm Central; and/or. A license to practice law in either SC or VA in good standing.
