Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence and memorandum. Aid in preparation for trials, depositions, client meetings, client preparations including trial scheduling. Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Gather and organize records and/or client documents including witness files and trial notebooks. Assist with document review and preparation of document productions (i.e. witness kits, privilege logs, digests, indices, trial and arbitration binders). Assist, prepare and/or coordinate correspondence, briefs, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, subpoenas, deposition notices, distribution of court filing, tribunal submissions, and/or routine court documents. Conduct research and prepare case books utilizing Westlaw, Lexis and utilize other research services, as needed. E-file court documents using PACER or other electronic court systems. Assist with general aspects of document productions (redacting, copying, scanning, bates stamping). Organize, analyze and index documents and exhibits. Scheduling services related to courier, process of service, depositions, administrative hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trials. Calendaring/docketing important dates and deadlines. Assist with client-related case file collections. Other legal support duties as assigned. Requirements: 3+ years experience in a Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal role. Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved Paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies, preferred. Strong planning and organization skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with attorneys, staff, and clients. Professional appearance and demeanor. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Fluent in English and Spanish with experience translating between the two in a legal environment. Knowledge of the local (Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington Counties) court systems and filings.
