Paralegal (US Tax) Responsibilities: Will include working on tax controversy matters spanning the full spectrum of tax controversy matters such as federal and state audits, appeals, and mediation. Will particularly involve supporting the tax attorneys with voluntary disclosures filings made to the Internal Revenue Service, including: Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP/OVDI), Streamlined Filings Compliance Procedures (onshore and offshore), Delinquent FBAR Submission Program, Delinquent Informational Return Submission Procedures, Domestic disclosures, Alternative resolutions. Full case management including all calendaring of due dates. Work with clients and intermediaries to collect, organize and transmit necessary source documents for accurate returns. Organization of audit binders including bank statements in English and in other languages. Assist lawyers in the preparation of IRS responses, forms and documents. Work with external accountants, maintaining friendly relationships while ensuring deadlines are met. Maintain follow-up to ensure delivery and receipt, and to monitor timelines. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. 2+ years experience as a paralegal. Background exposure to a legal practice in a tangential area such as a litigation practice (calendaring), bankruptcy (stages and steps), or return preparation would be helpful. Strong organizational and practice management skills. Written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
