This large, rapidly growing, full-service law firm is making big strides in the global realm of telecommunications, e-commerce and dot coms in addition to having a very notable practice in international commerce, corporate and contract litigation. It is located in the Pacific Northwest with branches in the West and in Washington DC. Litigation Paralegal The candidate will provide paralegal support to the attorneys in the firms Litigation practice group. Will provide support related to all aspects of litigation, including managing eDiscovery, case management and trial support. Be highly organized and experienced in labor, employment, employee benefits and litigation law. Applies knowledge of codes, statutes, regulations and procedures related to the assigned practice area. Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments. Obtain records and documents; interview clients, parties and witnesses; prepare subpoenas; locate expert witnesses; manage litigation review databases; review literature and search databases. Assemble and organize factual information. Draft interrogatories, requests for production, motions, memorandums, witness and deposition outlines, privilege logs; draft correspondence to clients. Manage collection of discovery documents from clients, manage eDiscovery litigation review databases, manage outside reviewers; manage document productions; maintain collection, production and privilege logs. Oversee disposition of documents at the end of the case. Annotate, summarize or categorize testimony, documents, physical evidence or other information; assist with determining relevance and privilege; critique experts' reports; and prepare numerical analyses. Assist with pretrial motions; prepare trial notebooks and trial exhibits; schedule witnesses; file lists of exhibits and witnesses with court; and arrange for trial support services. Develop and maintain positive relationships with the firm's clients. Perform administrative responsibilities assigned by the practice area or department chair. Examples include disseminating changes in the codes, statutes, regulations and procedures to others in the firm and maintaining current files of forms used in the assigned practice area. The candidate should have high school diploma or equivalent. College degree is preferred. Must have 3-5 years of related experience which demonstrates analytical and written research capabilities. Should have paralegal certificate in the appropriate jurisdiction. Must have: prior experience with online litigation document review databases; a strong understanding of the EDRM; and prior experience with or be capable of rapidly understanding, interpreting and applying to various client circumstances the full range of codes, statutes and procedures related to the assigned practice area. Should have the following capabilities: analysis skills; excellent planning and organizing skills; project management skills; excellent oral communication skills; written communication skills; technical knowledge in the area of practice-related codes, statutes and regulations; ability to learn; establish effective follow-up procedures; strong client service orientation; ability to demonstrate teamwork/cooperation with others; and ability to work on a variety of projects, work with detailed information, work independently, and work at a fast pace. Must be capable of operating a personal computer and printer and learning/using software required to successfully perform job functions, e.g., electronic mail; drafting correspondence and documents; proofreading for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; reading and interpreting legal correspondence, memoranda, documents, reference publications or reference books and technical manuals in printed form or on a computer screen. Occasionally may be required to travel out of town overnight(s) to assist with document productions, attend trial, etc.
