Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate will be assisting with the preparation, filing and service of pleadings, Federal and State levels, to include familiarity with and ability to research various court rules. Drafting and revising correspondence. Maintaining case-related deadlines and uploading information into LawToolBox and Outlook. Maintaining attorney calendars. Acting as a liaison among all parties including court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information. Organizing and managing documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and retrieval systems. Coordinating the collection, review and production of documents and responses to discovery requests. Form preparation for various pleadings. Maintaining document databases such as DISCO in document-heavy litigation. Assisting with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings. Coordinate service of process and subpoenas for litigation matters. Transcribing dictation. Researching case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside referral sources. Compiling information and preparing statistics, charts, graphs, and other summaries. Analyzing real estate contracts and creating deadlines lists and closing checklists. Setting up conference calls and video conference meetings. Various other legal assistant duties to include (without limitation). Process pleadings and correspondence to include: Save a copy to the system; Calendar relevant response/reply deadlines; Prepare a form of responsive pleading when appropriate; and Service/copy to client and recipients. Answering Calls and taking messages. Time entry assistance. Should preferably have 2+ years of experience managing civil litigation cases with proficiency in computer programs typical to the legal profession. Experience researching rules of civil procedure and calendaring deadlines based on court rules. Should have the ability to work in a collaborative, team environment. Initiative and good communication skills are needed. Should be proficient in use of computer programs typical to the legal profession. Should be highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
