Conflicts Attorney The candidate will work with the Conflicts and Intake Compliance department. Will also support the firm-wide new business intake process, lateral hiring conflicts clearance process, and related conflicts and business intake processes. Identify, analyze, and resolve or make a recommendation for the resolution of potential conflicts of interest related to new firm business; review and draft conflict waivers, and review both engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines; work with the Director of CIC on conflicts analysis and resolution as needed and collaborate with Ethics Partner and Office of the General Counsel on other ethics-related projects and questions. Work with partners to negotiate and draft waivers, disclosures, and engagement letters; conduct legal research related to conflicts of interest, new business intake, and firm policies related to the same and prepare communications to lawyers and others, clearly identifying all potential issues found in conflict reports to facilitate clearance process. Be responsible for maintaining a solid understanding of current policies and firm best practices and acting as a resource in answering questions from other firm personnel with respect to the new business intake process, and policies. The candidate must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admission in the DC Bar (active and in good standing). Should preferably have 2+ years of law firm (or other professional services firm) experience in the role of a lawyer. Must preferably have 2+ years of conflicts work experience in a law firm, and legal, writing, or research experience related to the skills and duties. Should also have a working knowledge of the DC Rules of Professional Conduct. Should preferably have familiarity with computer systems in use at law firms including business intake systems and research systems such as Moody s, Bureau van Dijk (Orbis, Compliance Catalyst, World Compliance), LexisNexis and others.
