Paralegal, Family Law The candidate will help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses. Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers. Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems. Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping the case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible. Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits. Maintain confidentiality and secure financial and medical documents. Proofread to produce error-free documents, including divorce decrees, Wills, discovery responses, pleadings, and motions. Go above and beyond to provide excellent client service. Participate in group community service activities and marketing events. Investigate like a boss to ferret out information that is hard to find. Track and bill for the time. Maintain a warm and friendly attitude at all times and with people from all walks of life. Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate's degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor's degree is preferred. Should have 3+ years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting. Must have family law experience in Texas. Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program is strongly preferred.
