Litigation Paralegal Duties: The candidate will provide litigation support, involve such activities as developing and maintaining files and reports; schedule; routing pleadings and correspondence to appropriate parties; draft/coordinate responses to interrogatories, requests for documents, and other discovery; gather medical records, liens, and other documents, and summarizing the same. Prepare/draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, discovery, etc. Track all requests made for documents and records, follow up on the status of requests and verify receipt of documents and records. Contact clients, witnesses, experts, third parties, and opposing counsel to obtain information pertinent to the case. Work closely with legal assistants and court personnel to schedule and calendar attorney depositions and activities related to depositions (i.e. court reporter, witnesses, opposing counsel). Ensure filings comply with court rules and filing and e-filing requirements. Qualifications: The candidate should preferably have a Bachelor? A A?s degree from a four-year college or university or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program. At least 3+ years of paralegal experience is required. Should preferably have an Associate degree, and 1+ year of MS Office experience. Must have proven three or more years of working experience as a litigation paralegal dealing with cases in the North Carolina state and federal courts. Legal research skills with proficiency in Westlaw or other like products. Proficient knowledge of state and federal civil procedures, including electronic filing procedures (CM/ECF, PACER, etc.). Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software. Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent grammatical and spelling skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow. Strong interpersonal skills, especially with co-workers and clients. Good judgment, with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Creative, flexible, and innovative team player. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Acute attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects. Reliability.
