Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate will collect and submitting necessary medicals for IME attachment. Collect documents and complete Request for Production of Documents. Organizing and submitting briefs. Frequent communication with outside sources via phone, email or correspondence for assisting in the progression of the claim as well as client relations. Communicating with clients (requesting information necessary for the attorney as well as responding to client inquiries.). Communicating with office of opposing counsels, courts, physician's offices and plaintiff for acquiring information and scheduling as directed by the attorney as well as responding to inquiries. Aiding in the Firm's overall success by assisting with various administrative responsibilities as needed (i.e. billing, scanning files in system, etc.). Excellent writing skills is a must. Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage voluminous file material, understand the importance of deadline, confidentiality, telephone etiquette and client service are critical. Work experience in Workers Compensation is preferred. Proficient in various software: Microsoft Word and Outlook a must. Training for additional software will be available: billing systems, LMS and adobe software required. The candidate will be supporting attorneys by performing substantive and procedural legal work as authorized by law for which the attorney is responsible, including assisting in legal discovery, drafting legal documents and aiding in the progression of the claim. Work experience in Workers Compensation is preferred. Opening various types of files for attorney review (Workers Compensation, Medical Fee Disputes, Settlement agreements, etc.) Some of the tasks included in file openings are. Breaking down incoming files (identifying received material and separating in accordance with internal filing protocol). Draft opening memo for attorney reference. Draft medical chronology for attorney reference. Request necessary medical records. Aiding in legal discovery as directed by the attorney (i.e. collecting medical records, prepare medical canvasses, scheduling IME and depositions, collecting employment records, etc.). Assist the attorney by the completion of deadline committed responsibilities.
