Family Law Associate Attorney Responsibilities: Execute case strategy with senior attorneys, paralegals, clients and support staff. Manage high level/high asset cases by maintaining effective contact with parties involved in the case; preparing for mediations/depositions; reviewing standard court documents; drafting motions/petitions; writing and reviewing discovery; responding to opposing counsel; generating status reports. Keeping clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress. Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with clients, and essential staff. Supports case planning by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review. Is involved with trial proceedings working with support staff in organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are prepared. Qualifications: Knowledge of Jurisprudence, family law and procedures, including constitutional and statutory law. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and legal terminology related to court system. Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and County applicable laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines. Knowledge of methods and practices of pleading cases and of effective techniques for presentation of cases in court or to effectively present facts and precedents verbally and in writing in law related matters. Knowledge of business letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation. Knowledge of computer equipment including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and a variety of software packages. Skill in both verbal and written communication, including presentations. Skill in problem solving and decision-making. Skill in analyzing and appraising facts, policies, procedures, and legal precedents in area of specialty. Ability to present facts, precedents and arguments verbally and in writing and apply negotiation skills. Ability to manage time well and perform multiple tasks, and organize diverse activities. Ability to work independently. Ability to work well under pressure and exercise tact in trying situations. Ability to conduct legal research and analysis, both manually and electronically. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. J.D. from an accredited law school AND two (2) years of licensed attorney work experience.
