Litigation Paralegal The candidate will prepare for hearings, trials, mediations and depositions through exhibit organization, witness preparation, research and follow-through of other tasks as required. The Litigation Paralegal will also attend trials acting as an assistant to the attorney during the court proceedings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applications such as Word and Excel along with the ability to multitask effectively and essentially thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment are essential to be successful in this role. Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys. Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details. Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed. Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents. Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action. Directing and coordinating service of documents including delivery of subpoenas. Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data. Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings. Keeping law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes. Producing and sending out various documents, including a variety of orders, memos, emails, and letters. Maintaining client communication, case status and updates. 2 years of litigation legal support/legal assistant/paralegal experience required. Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment. Ability to conduct legal research. Knowledge of the litigation process to include court rules and procedures for prosecutions. Ability to communicate orally. Ability to use a variety of office software programs. Knowledge and proficiency in legal software applications such as Clio. Knowledge of and skill in the use of spreadsheets and schedules, in order to gather data, analyze information, and present findings.
