Paralegal The candidate will accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly. Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events. Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records with assistance from the accounting department. Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested. Setting up and maintaining the organization of client files through the use of practice management software. Be an integral part of the legal process by drafting letters and pleadings on family law cases, and probate cases our law firm handles. File pleadings electronically on the Court's electronic filing system. Interact with clients, both in person, via email, and over the phone to assist the attorneys in handling cases. Maintain calendars and scheduling for our attorneys. Create a positive and professional impression and experience for all our clients. Be a key team member by supporting the attorneys and other staff members as needed, including assisting the receptionist periodically with some call screening.
The candidate should have a High school diploma or equivalent. Some college is preferred. Should have 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary. Should have 5+ years experience serving as a paralegal at a family law or probate and estate planning law firm. Must be able to type 50 words per minute or faster. Must have worked with legal software, case management, and docketing programs. Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times.
