Part-time Litigation Paralegal Duties: Extensive time on telephone. Receipt and preparation of new cases. Initial file organization including docketing of initial case & client deadlines in Orion and Outlook. Prepare and review/proof correspondence. Prepare medical record requests and receipt of same. Prepare/draft discovery requests. Prepare deposition notices. Review and summarize discovery responses from opposing counsel. Prepare and update Case Lists and summaries. Scanning and filing of discovery, pleadings and other file materials (including medical records). All transcription received from attorney to include correspondences, discovery responses, motions, briefs, etc. Scheduling of depositions, mediations, and other attorney appointments. Perform online research including criminal records/background checks. Prepare documents for production pursuant to discovery requests. Calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, Pre-Trial agreements, discovery and other deadlines - many received from ICMS system - using both Orion and MS Outlook. Daily review of calendar regarding deadlines with attorneys. Weekly case list review meetings with attorneys. Prepare Stipulations, Release, Affidavits, and Settlement Documents. Prepare witness/exhibit lists, subpoenas, and contact trial witnesses. Misc. hearing/trial preparation. Record daily time entries (for billing purposes) into Orion. Any other tasks that may be assigned by Management or Supervising Attorneys. General Clerical & Sedentary Duties. Extensive Typing, Computer Operation, & Scanning. Extensive Filing of Papers. Providing Paralegal Support for 3+ Attorneys inclusive of Document-Generation (e.g., discovery, pleadings, forms, etc.) Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED at Minimum; College or Technical School Preferred. Paralegal Certificate or Degree Preferred. Must have Law Firm or Equivalent Experience. Clerical Experience is a Must. Office/Clerical Education or Equivalent Experience Required. Paralegal Education or Equivalent Experience. Must be Proficient with Formal Grammar (Writing & Speaking). Organizational Skills are Critical. Must be Detail-Oriented. Must be a Self-Motivated Worker who does not Need Constant Supervision to Complete Assigned Tasks/Work. Ability to Complete Tasks Assigned in a Timely Fashion while Adhering to Rigid Timelines. Must have Knowledge of Word/Microsoft Office Suite, generally, and be Competent with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook, specifically. Ability and Willingness to Learn New Software Programs (e.g., Corel WordPerfect), Office Equipment, and other Devices. Work Product must be: Accurate; Timely Completed (rush assignments and demanding deadlines are common); and Properly Billed using Software & Adhering to Firm Guidelines.
