Paralegal Duties: Prepare and file motion for bond reduction, reinstatement etc.,. Gather information for plea bargaining and prepare changes or plea for arraignment.. Obtain discovery (police reports, search warrant, and affidavits). Analyze case based on documents and information obtained.. Prepare documents and file for preliminary hearing or grand jury presentation.. As necessary and appropriate, draft and file brief motions for diversion, for return of property, to postpone trial, and to withdraw as attorney of record, among others.. Prepare documents concerning work release, probation, PTI etc.. Draft and file notices of appeal or petitions for writ of certiorari. Prepare sentencing information and work with probation officers.. Organize documents and prepare record on appeal or appendix. Facilitate correspondence with solicitors, courts, and clients. Maintain filing system. Maintain billing system and prepare invoices. Communicate with clients about hearings, case updates, and other meetings.
Qualifications: A degree or certification in paralegal studies, legal studies or criminal justice is preferred. Notaries preferred. 1-2 years experience at a criminal law firm or solicitor s office is preferred.
