Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities: Conduct legal research and assist in initial case assessments. Draft initial pleadings, motions and e-filing them with the court. Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage discovery deadlines and logistics etc.). Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices. Coordination between the client and attorney for gathering documents and information requests. Aid attorneys with drafting, and responding to, interrogatories and other discovery requests. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Schedule mediations and keeping all parties up to date. Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties Coordination with court coordinators regarding setting in person and zoom hearings Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences. Maintain routine communications with clients and attorneys about case status and preparation. Provide exceptional customer service with compassion and poise. Qualifications: A paralegal Certificate is preferred. Should have 5 years of proven working experience as a family law paralegal. Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc. An understanding of and/or working knowledge of California Family law proceedings. Comfortable with remote work environments, use of communications tools like Asana and Slack. Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail. High proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, Lawyaw and Clio. Ability to assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and request for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders) and motions (preparation of any supporting documents and exhibits, and preparing hearing binders). Ability to manage trial preparation including coordination of witnesses and travel, trial exhibits, charts, trial notebook, subpoenas, and page lines. Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision.
