Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for administrative support functions for the practice. S/he will be responsible for preparing legal documents, correspondence, legal filings, discovery, time entry, file maintenance, scheduling, indexing and other administrative functions. Prepares legal documents, filings, and/or general correspondence with accuracy and precision. Propounds and responds to discovery. Efficiently handles case management order compliance. Responsible for e-filing with State and Federal Court Systems. Reviews assigned cases periodically for the purpose of determining status and follow-up on outstanding items. Reviews, analyzes, and summarizes large volumes of records and other voluminous documents. Prepare cases for depositions, mediations and trials. Supports Partner (s) in the preparation of legal arguments, applications, declarations and motions. Drafts responses to discovery, such as interrogatories and requests for production. Drafts discovery requests to opposing parties. Other duties as assigned. The candidate should have experience interacting with court clerks and attorney services. Associate degree is required; BA or BS is preferred. Paralegal certification is a plus. Should have 5+ years litigation secretary/paralegal experience. Construction defect experience is required. Must have working knowledge of the California court system, docketing procedures, and e-filing with State and Federal systems. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; and ability to write and speak professionally is essential. Extensive knowledge of court rules is essential. Strong proficiency with computer programs: MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Time Keeping (timeslips) Systems and Internet applications is essential. Knowledge of State and Federal court filings, including E-filings and remote filings within State and Federal Courts is essential.
