The Sillicon Valley office of this firm represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation, including: insurance defense, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, toxic torts, professional liability, products liability, environmental, and real estate litigation. The firm’s compensation package is not competitive and the firm’s attorneys face a demanding work schedule. The firm values collegiality and diversity in hiring attorneys; strong academic credentials, though helpful, are not essential.
Litigation Paralegal Responsiblties: Assist with deposition preparation by conducting document searches for items relevant to examination and creating relevant document binders. Assist with document productions by creating search terms to capture relevant documents, conducting pre-production review of documents for relevance, privilege and confidentially. Prepare summaries of deposition testimony, responses to discovery, medical records, and medical billing records including highlighting information relevant to client's defenses. Prepare case for trial including document binders, draft jury questionnaires, draft jury instructions, draft witness list, draft exhibit lists, and other pre-trial and trial documents. Perform factual and legal research. Familiarity with State and Federal court procedures. Familiarity with e-discovery software such as Relativity. Assist with all matters that arise during trial. Managing subpoenas and records requests and regularly communicating with vendors. Qualifications: Strong written, verbal communication and organizational skills. Ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, drafting and proofreading skills as attention to detail is critical. Evidenced ability to work independently and to work on several projects simultaneously. Strong time management and project management skills, including ability to adhere to strict project deadlines, while being flexible in response to changes and delays; and. Willingness and ability to learn and perform new tasks, as needed. Paralegal certification required with a minimum of three years experience as a litigation paralegal. Candidates must meet the requirements of Bus. & Prof. Code section 6450(c). Experience with Westlaw. Proficient in computer programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Ability to operate under pressure and facilitate team building environment. Effective verbal and written communication.
