Private School Attorney Duties: Acts as general counsel for dozens of K-12 independent schools, preschools, universities and education-related nonprofits. Serve as trusted advisors to heads of school, boards of trustees and academic and business managers, with extensive experience assisting schools managing critical challenges. Advice on compliance with state and federal education and employment laws, addressing student discipline issues, disputes with parents and third parties, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, mandatory reporting of suspected abuse, risk and crisis management and board governance. Qualifications: Licensed to practice law in California; have 1+ year of legal experience in education, employment or business law; excellent academic credentials; superb communication and legal research skills; and the ability to take leadership and to show initiative. A background or degree in education is also a plus.
