Paralegal/Legal Assistant (family Law) The candidate will be filing and organizing documents. Receiving and responding to phone calls from clients and other third parties. Screening prospective client inquiries, Transmitting documents (scan/email/mail/fax). Preparing correspondence and proofreading all documents/court pleadings. Conforming all documents to firm standards. Drafting basic legal documents/pleadings. Efficiently managing firm calendar by inputting deadlines and maintaining follow-up/reminder systems to ensure timely completion of projects. Scheduling depositions, meetings and appointments. Filing pleadings at court. Preparing documentation required for trials, arbitrations, mediations, conferences, hearings, depositions, and experts. Communicating with court, attorneys, clients, court staff, vendors, etc. Must have excellent writing, proofreading and organizational skills. Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Prior experience with TABS a plus. Experience in family court litigation highly desirable. Ability to deal with emotional clientele involved in divorce, child custody, and other family court litigation is a must. This is a fast-paced environment involving a substantial caseload, where setting priorities and meeting deadlines are critical skills.
