Washington, D.C. office seeks a conflicts analyst assistant with 2-4 years of conflicts of interest researching. The candidate assists the new business conflicts manager and the director of new business conflicts with conflicts research, analysis and clearance on projects including bankruptcy debtor/special and ordinary course counsel representations. Reviews and performs analysis of outside counsel guidelines. Handles large scale conflicts checks. Performs preliminary e-mail conflicts check and other research and analysis associated with special interest initiatives in the firm. Assists attorneys in identification and resolution of conflicts of interest; coordinates receipt and documentation and preparation of engagement letters and client waivers and/or consents. Meets with members of the ethics committee to identify conflicts of interest and receives final approval on permitting the firm to undertake new business. Meets with members of the executive committee to identify and resolve conflicts of interest. Prepares and implements screens/firewalls when required in connection with new business. Assists with maintenance and update of the conflicts database. Assists new business conflicts manager with the training of conflicts research assistants. Analysis and resolution experience is preferred. Elite database or comparable database experience is a plus; if the candidate has no prior conflicts experience, must have 3-5 years of legal background as a legal assistant with strong litigation, large document production background, researching and database experience. College degree is preferred. Strong organizational skills are required. Must also have Word processing skills, knowledge of Word and Excel.
