This large international boutique firm has more than 900 lawyers in 16 different locations. It counsels clients on all aspects of global business, technology transactions, and intellectual property protection. With associates practicing more than 30 practice areas, clients are kept pretty well satisfied. While the Connecticut office may not be the largest, compensation and billable hours requirements are at market level for firms of the same size. This can be a big advantage for the smaller satellite offices.
Washington, D.C. office seeks a senior applications developer with solid working experience designing and maintaining extranet and Internet systems. The candidate will help build new and customize existing open source applications based on the LAMP stack. The successful candidate will assist with Open Source applications setup, monitoring, basic administration, and technical user support. This includes downloading, installing and configuring existing LAMP applications. Will assist with ongoing Lotus Notes/Domino development and user support; manage development projects through the full life cycle of software development including client meetings and presentations, project scoping and requirements definition, prototype development, testing and rollout and stay up to date and provide recommendations on the latest trends, best practices, competitive advantages and other aspects that should be incorporated into the firm's client facing technologies. The candidate will support and maintain existing extranets by learning the current designs and improving where applicable, work as part of the IT and other firm department teams to educate firm members and external users and build awareness of available knowledge management and sharing tools; and participate in design efforts related to integration of primary information storage systems with the firm's knowledge management and client facing systems. 2+ years of experience in MySQL/PHP application development, a minimum of 1 year of experience in Lotus Notes development, and strong skills and prior experience in GUI design and implementation for web based applications, 3+ years of experience as Internet and extranet designer for a large legal or professional services firm, and 3+ years of experience participating in full life cycle implementation (requirements, design, development, deployment, and support) for web based services in a professional services organization. A familiarity with available technologies and business processes for knowledge sharing and team collaboration systems with specific experience supporting such systems in a large law firm is required.
