Civil Litigation Legal Secretary The candidate provide direct support to multiple attorneys, including filing, serving, drafting basic legal documents and correspondence, answering telephones, familiar with calendaring and navigating Court. websites. File and serve legal documents. Draft routine correspondence, file memos and legal documents. Maintain calendar and track deadlines. Check Tentative Rulings. Confirming depositions. Reserve Court Reporters. Set Court Calls. Create and format basic pleadings, judicial council forms, and discovery. Provide administrative support for attorneys in court and at the offices. Transcription. Collaborate with vendors. Administrative duties as they relate to the practice of law. Create Medical Binders for IME (Independent Medical Examinations). Setting up and maintaining files. Answer all telephone calls for attorneys. A Associate degree in paralegal studies or Certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or the American Alliance Certified Paralegal (AACP) credential offered by the American Alliance of Paralegals, Inc.1 preferred. Should have Knowledge of civil litigation, preferably subrogation and insurance defense. Must have familiarity with State and Federal Courts, CCP Codes, California Rules of Court and researching Local Rules, searching Court websites and checking Tentative Rulings, dealing with attorney services, preferably One Legal, dealing with Court Reporters, Interpreters and videographers, Dragon transcription software a plus. Calendaring, including Statute of Limitations and trial deadlines.
