Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal Duties: File and document management. Participate in initial client interview. Prepare requests for medical records, tax records, work verification, etc. Obtain photographs, documents, and physical evidence from third parties. Draft complaint and necessary motions. Prepare proposals for settlement letters with compilation of supporting documentation. Verify and request reduction of liens and outstanding medical expense balances. Correspond with insurance adjusters regarding insurance coverage and claim status. Daily contact with clients regarding treatment status, medical condition, and claim status. Prepare attorney for and attend mediation, deposition and trial as requested by the attorney. Analyze medical records and documents relating to the claim. Prepare pleadings including discovery requests and responses. Locate and make recommendations on expert witnesses - at attorney's instruction contact and provide documents for expert's review. Conduct legal research relating to pleading and motion preparation. Prepare mediation presentations. Prepare trial notebooks and demonstration exhibits. Oversee calendaring and docketing of deadlines. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must have 2+ years of progressive paralegal experience with concentration in personal injury and first party property. Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA approved paralegal program preferred. In depth knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations. Proficient knowledge and understanding of medical terminology. Highly proficient in MS Office Suite. Ability to work effectively with people, exercise sound judgment, and establish and maintain professional relationships with attorneys and colleagues. Working knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. Must be tech savvy, have impeccable legal research skills, understand the litigation cycle and be highly organized. Critical thinking skills. Analytical skills. Stress tolerance. Excellent communication skills. Detail oriented. Organization skills.
