Temporary Bankruptcy Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys with assignments involving complex paralegal duties requiring initiative, skill and specialized legal knowledge. Reports to the Bankruptcy Department Administrator working closely with internal and outside counsel on all bankruptcy matters as well as with bankruptcy clients to reconcile pre petition balances. Investigates preference actions and works with attorneys on their defense. Prepares and files Proofs of Claims. Prepare documents for Bankruptcy such as Motions for Relief from Stay. Access Court system (Pacer) as required to retrieve official documents. Ensures proper calculation of pre petition and amounts due and the proper handling of these receivables. Ensures that all related bankruptcy accounts are identified and properly treated. Substantial knowledge of bankruptcy Chapter 11 procedures, including drafting of pleadings and preparation of schedules and statements. Provides subject matter expertise on bankruptcy handling and processing. Analyzes court documents to determine status of bankruptcy. Calendar and monitor key dates and deadlines. The candidate should preferably have Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college. Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program is a plus. Detailed knowledge of Bankruptcy provisions and laws required. Strong organization skills and attention to detail are critical.
