Legal Assistant/Paralegal Candidate will: Assist attorneys with administrative tasks, billing, document review and maintenance. Prepare and finalize correspondence ensuring service deadlines are met. E-filing, assisting with deposition, hearing and trial preparation, including preparing timelines, designing demonstratives and other visual aids. Assists with general office administration to ensure smooth operational support for client-focused attorneys. Draft letters such as enclosure letters, acknowledgement letters, document request cover & follow-up letters, errata sheet letters. Assemble packages to be mailed: records to send to experts, clients, and other counsel. Draft document requests. Perform follow up on document requests and check status of requests. Draft deposition notices, extensions, standard discovery requests, HIPAA releases. Scheduling: deposition, trial preparation, court reporters, defense counsel meetings, internal meetings, meetings w/ treating physicians/fact witnesses & counsel if applicable. Create & maintain notebooks: making tabs/covers, locating applicable documents & copying, adding new docs to notebooks, adding labels as needed. Opening and closing files; maintaining electronic and hard copy files of documents and materials; maintaining case and contact lists. Research as requested by attorneys. Draft & design demonstratives. Analyze damages claims (reviewing bills, creating spreadsheet comparison). Perform e-billing maintenance: submitting budgets, managing contested bills, overseeing timekeeper submissions, communicating with accounting department. Review & distribute incoming mail; process outgoing mail and ensure filing and notification deadlines are met. Perform follow-up with court on various motions, extensions, etc. Order the appropriate medical records, organize medical records, review medical records and create timelines of treatment. Qualifications: College degree required; paralegal certificate preferred. Paralegal experience strongly preferred. 5+ years legal support experience required, preferably in a law firm; 2+ years paralegal experience highly preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Analytical skills, organizational skills and time management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and self-motivated. Proficient MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel. Electronic document management system experience, preferably iManage / Filesite. Ability to easily assimilate to various software and technology based applications. Typing 55+ WPM; excellent spelling and grammar.
