Paralegal Duties: Manage discovery and production including tracking and follow-up of outstanding subpoenas and other discovery related deadlines. Review and analyze documents for responsiveness, attorney-client privilege, and relevance; identify and raise key issues regarding factual documents with attorneys. Compile and analyze data in connection with class actions and regulatory audits. Perform cite-checking, Shepardizing, legal and factual research, legislative history research and proofreading. Draft correspondence, discovery, affidavits/declarations, memoranda of law, settlement and release agreements, and other employment agreements and legal documents. Prepare exhibits, reports, summaries, chronologies, graphic aides, tables, and other documents. Contact agencies and other resources for guidance on various labor and employment matters. Draft/review handbooks, policies and procedures, Affirmative Action Plans and other projects as requested. Assist as needed with labor matters, including, but not limited to, preparing/tracking collective bargaining proposals and providing support for arbitration and representation hearings. Cooperative attitude and willingness to assist in all necessary tasks. Qualifications: 4+ years of paralegal experience or necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Preferred experience in labor and employment law. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word 2016 (or higher) and Microsoft Windows 10 (or higher); require basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel 2016 (or higher), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 (or higher); proficient in use of legal research databases such as Lexis; use of discretion and judgment, including maintaining confidentiality, and working cooperatively with others. Understands e-discovery processes. Must possess knowledge of Hawaii State and Federal court rules and the litigation process. Must display effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work extremely well under pressure and deadlines. Must have knowledge of and comply with the applicable legal authority governing the unauthorized practice of law in Hawaii. Requires effective, pleasant and courteous verbal and written communication skills; requires working under minimal supervision. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail. Exercise sound judgment in handling certain matters in the absence of attorneys. Analyze and use discretion in the proper handling of confidential matters. Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions. Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relations with others.
