Associate Attorney, Mass Torts The candidate will work alongside other attorneys and paralegals, assisting persons injured by products, medical devices and pharmaceuticals file and pursue claims. Duties: Conduct initial case investigation to determine whether a claim has merit; Locate and interview witnesses, gather and review relevant documents, including accident/incident reports, medical records, OSHA findings and reports of other investigative bodies; Draft and file pleadings, including summonses and complaints, petitions, interrogatories, bills of particulars, discovery demands and responses, and other initiatory documents on behalf of the client; Draft, file and argue, when required, various motions on behalf of the client, including discovery motions, motions for summary judgment and related memoranda of law; Draft discovery demands and responses as per the CPLR and Federal Rules; Attend/Conduct depositions of the Plaintiff, Defendant, non-party witnesses, and expert witnesses, when applicable; Retain and consult with experts when necessary; Represent the interests of the client at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations and other proceedings; Negotiate settlements on behalf of the client; Conduct legal research, using Westlaw, Lexis or other legal research databases; Remain current on developments in civil litigation; Other duties as assigned. Should have Juris Doctor Degree. Admission to NYS Bar and Federal Bar is needed. Must have strong oral advocacy, writing and analytical skills. Prior litigation experience in both Federal and State Court matters is preferred. A background in medicine by way of education and/or experience is desired. Prior work involving personal injury and disability claims is preferred. Prior experience analyzing medical records are preferred. Proficiency with electronic filing, electronic record keeping, electronic service, electronic document management and file sharing is preferred. Admission to Massachusetts and/or Vermont is desired.
