Legal Secretary Duties: Efiling. Preparing proofs of service and serving other parties. Calculating, calendaring, and tracking litigation deadlines. Communicating with clients. Organizing and filing transactional and litigation files and documents. Proof reading. Preparing exhibits, binders, and service packets. Preparing retainer agreements. Assisting with billing and invoicing. Opening and closing client files. Office cleaning and maintenance. Handling mail. Preparing and following set office procedures. Using PACER. Reviewing and downloading documents at lacourt.org. Coordinating vendors and confirming all services are properly completed. Preparation of basic legal documents (like notices of hearings) and cover letters. Bates numbering and redacting documents. Checking citations. Answering phones and greeting guests. Assisting with basic intake with potential clients. Basic internet and LexisNexis research. Copying and scanning. Requirements: 4+ years of work experience. Existing knowledge of legal terminology, the litigation process, and litigation documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and an ability to learn new software. Accurate and fast typing.
