Nurse Paralegal Duties: Obtain, review and analyze medical documents and records; Identification of missing records/additional records needed on a time-sensitive and confidential basis; Prepare and organize complete medical record summaries; Prepare mandatory disclosures and expert disclosures; Draft pleadings, discovery and routine correspondence; Assist in preparation of and responses to discovery requests; Analysis of medical literature, and expert research; Assisting in preparation for trial; Anticipating attorney s needs; Identifying problems and finding solutions; Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of people. Qualifications: A nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing, an ABA Paralegal Certificate, and 1-5 years of experience in clinical practice. Prior experience as a nurse paralegal for a law firm or legal department, and knowledge of rules of civil procedure and docketing is preferred. Proficient understanding and utilization of medical terminology, anatomical drawings, laboratory tests, and medications is required. A thorough understanding of medical conditions to explain or illustrate a diagnosis, full understanding of HIPAA compliance, and understanding and compliance with all other related regulatory mandates is required. Ability to identify and summarize medical treatments rendered, complaints, and injuries; Experienced in docketing and maintaining calendaring systems; Experienced in maintaining hard and soft filing systems; Experienced in billing time; Exceptional writing and research skills; Extremely detail oriented; Ability to stay focused on numerous details while maintaining a high level of accuracy; Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize a high-volume workload to meet time-critical deadlines; Self-directed with limited supervision; Ability to exercise a high degree of tact, discretion and sound judgment; Exceptional interpersonal skills with a mature and professional presentation and demeanor; High level of integrity and personal accountability; Excellent attendance and reliability. Required Computer Skills/Knowledge: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro; Summation, and Trial Director experience is a plus; Colorado Courts E-Filing (formerly known as ICCES); U.S. District Court ECF; PACER.
