Spanish Immigration Staff Attorney Responsibilities: Provide legal representation to immigrants who are facing removal proceedings before Immigration Court. Will meet with clients, counsel them on eligibility for relief under immigration laws, prepare applications for submission to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Immigration Court, and represent clients before the various government agencies. The candidate should have 1+ years of experience and be barred in Maryland. Must Speak Spanish Fluently. Knowledge of immigration law and immigration court procedures is preferred. Legal experience doing either immigration bond hearings or removal defense work is a plus. Must travel to nearby detention facilities housing immigrant detainees, to meet the clients. Must exhibit strong writing skills, excellent communication skills and client interviewing abilities as well as the ability to work under pressure. We will give preference to applicants who have prior experience working in an immigration law firm. Must be fluent in Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish. Should be a fast learner and hard worker. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision. Work well under deadlines, handle confidential information with professionalism, and display strong interpersonal skills.
