This small/mid size New York office is part of a diverse national and international regulatory, commercial, legislative, and civil and criminal litigation practice. The firm handles: general civil and criminal practice in U.S. state and federal courts; trials and appeals; rulemaking and adjudicative proceedings; international and national litigation and arbitration; legislation; and corporate transactions. Washington, D.C. office seeks a public relations specialist with 5+ years of public relations experience. The candidate identifies potential media opportunities for the firm as a whole. Works closely with legal department chairs, marketing liaisons and practice managers to develop and implement PR strategies, identify potential media targets and goals and ensure that it is incorporated with overall business development and marketing plans. Writes, prepares and places firm announcements, attorney-written articles and other forms of newsworthy activity. Trains and equips lawyers for media appearances. Identifies targeted media outlets and legal directories for legal departments, practice groups, offices and partners. Ensures that external communications initiatives are aligned with those of the firm. Locates, tracks, disseminates and submits surveys, directories and other opportunities related to the media and research companies, such as Chambers and Partners and Practical Law Company. B.A./B.S. degree is required. Public relations agency background and/or experience with professional service/law firm(s) a plus. Excellent business writing skills, including knowledge of business English, vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, and spelling are needed. Willingness to be flexible and ability to travel to other firm locations is needed.
