Washington DC office seeks accounting coordinator with 1-3 years experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a law firm. The candidate will handle petty cash function in the office, including dispensing out cash to employees, auditing Necho reports when petty cash is requested, communicating with bank regarding change requests, ordering foreign currency, and reconciling on-site cash. Will assist with various accounts payable functions including reviewing and coding invoices for payment, overseeing and setting up the internal creation of vendor profiles, setting up recurring vouchers to minimize data entry, downloading and formatting invoice data for electronic upload to Elite; corresponding with vendors and firm employees regarding payment status and generating checks. Assists with various accounts receivable functions including preparing daily bank deposit, entering cash receipts, entering credits into Elite, and handling incoming wire transfers in the absence of the Assistant Accounting Manager. Backs up Accounting Assistant as necessary and assists with voucher entry and getting checks signed and mailed. Should have a Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience. Experience working with large amounts of cash, including foreign currencies. Strong technical skills including advanced proficiency with an accounting software package, especially Elite and intermediate proficiency in both Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with staff of all levels. Strong oral and written communication skills
