Paralegal - Litigation Duties: Electronically coordinate and manage email, calendars, contact information, tasks or similar communications activities utilizing systems such as Outlook or manual systems. Communicate in various forms to inform, including responding to client inquiries. Serve as a liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts. Prepare electronic court filings for state and federal courts. Maintain superior relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties. Professionally and effectively work with clients in stressful and sensitive situations. Review and analyze matters to prepare evaluations and status reports to clients. Meet minimum client billable hour standard. Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. Track and monitor cases and documents for ongoing litigation matters. Organize files and administration for database construction and management. Draft and edit pleadings. Includes reviewing and answering complaints, counterclaims and third-party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike jurisdictional motions, and research for pleadings. Develop, respond, or object to interrogatories or request to admit and summarizes interrogatories and admissions received. Prepares subpoenas, notices of deposition, motions, and mediation summaries on the state and federal level, including state regulatory agencies. Prepare case chronologies; responses to public records requests. Develop, respond, object to, and negotiate document request. Includes identifying and reviewing documents for production, identifying and reviewing documents for privilege, preparing and drafting request to produce, preparing and drafting response for request to produce, preparing and drafting notice of nonparty production (NNP), preparing and drafting subpoena and authorization, obtaining non-subpoenaed documents (i.e., tax returns, work comp, disability, court files), and reviewing summarizing subpoenaed documents. Trial preparation, including preparation of deposition and exhibits logs, exhibits, jury instructions, voir dire, pretrial statements, trial books, FRE Summaries, exemplars, scheduling of witnesses, and preparation of witness exams. Create, organize, and maintain witness and expert witness notebooks, document indices, and timelines. Prepare expert discovery notices, communicate with expert on scheduling and logistics. Locate, confer and interview witnesses, expert witnesses, and resource people. Prepare deposition notices and subpoenas, communicate with opposing and other partys counsel on scheduling and logistics, plan and prepare to take the deposition. Review and summarize deposition transcripts and medical records. Utilize computerized transcript programs to search and prepare reports and exhibits to prepare for depositions. Prepare judgment interest calculations, garnishments, and post judgment collection documents. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in related field preferred. FRP and CLA certifications preferred. 2+ years' experience working as a litigation paralegal required.
