Paralegal - Part-time The candidate will manage case files, including: accurately document and input party information and contact information into firm management system, ensure pleadings and disclosures are saved to the proper files and in the proper locations, calendar all deadlines, including client reporting deadlines as well as court mandated deadlines, review and prepare client documents for disclosure, including reviewing for privilege, redacting, preparing privilege logs, add exhibit stickers, format documents and bates numbering documents. Communicate with clients, interviewing them and gathering documents and information about the case to ensure completeness of case file and any mandatory disclosures. Respond timely and promptly to client inquiries, continually managing client communications and coordinating with attorneys as needed. Draft legal documents, including subpoenas, complaints, summonses, initial disclosures, expert disclosures, written discovery, discovery responses, case management orders, trial management orders, motions, and affidavits, under supervision of attorneys. File and serve pleadings and other filings via state, federal, and private e-filing systems, calendaring responsive deadlines pursuant to Court Orders and the Rules of Civil procedure; Coordinate service of process and background checks/investigations with Vendors. Perform research on opposing parties, including prior litigations, news articles, social media entries. Research construction, property and title issues, including learning how to access and obtain information from regional building department and assessors office online portals. Organize and communicate with the legal team, ensuring that upcoming tasks and deadlines are being covered and addressed. Prepare requests for documents including CORA requests, Telephone records requests and Subpoena Duces Tecum. Assist in preparation for trial, including identification and preparation of exhibits, designation of deposition testimony, deposition summaries, motions in limine, orders of proof, jury instructions, witness and exhibit lists and other key pre-trial filings. The candidate should have Bachelor's degree or associate degree in paralegal studies (or equivalent experience). Must have demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office products. Should have experience with learning new computer programs and systems, ability and motivation to independently research and engage in training to learn new systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must have strong writing skills, ability to write clearly and professionally. Should have ability to manage voluminous files and exhibits. Must have ability to track and identify deadlines across multiple cases and clients, and to prioritize assigned tasks and duties to ensure deadlines are met. Knowledge of legal terminology, federal and state rules of legal procedure is required. Must have experience in case management from inception to trial or settlement. Should have experience using a data management system. Experience in the fields of construction litigation, mechanic's lien foreclosure, or insurance defense litigation is preferred. Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
