Human Resources Manager, Attorneys Responsibilities: Develop and maintain strong relationships with attorneys and employees across all sections. Gain a deep understanding of Mintzs capabilities and resources. Provide excellent service and become a trusted colleague. Viewed as a helpful resource who advocates appropriately and proactively for positive change and creative solutions. Participate in the Non-Member review process, including using evaluation software, communicating to members and non-members, ensuring timely completion of evaluations and any follow-up actions, monitoring program effectiveness and suggesting enhancements. Provide strategic guidance related to ongoing performance management. Identify developmental gaps and collaborate closely with Attorney Development colleagues, Section Management, and Members to implement programs to address the issues identified. Participate in the Firms Non-Member compensation strategy. Collaborate closely with Attorney Development colleagues and Section Management to determine discretionary bonuses, billing rates, and salaries. Keep current on the depth chart and other tools that reflect hiring and status changes. Become the subject matter expert on Technical Advisors and Patent Agents and manage all HR programs and processes for this population under the direction of the Senior Manager of Human Resources. Work closely with the Intellectual Property section to ensure program needs are met. Conduct local office exit interviews. Participate in all aspects of the Mentoring, Advising, and Sponsorship Programs, including identifying local office pairings, training and communications, monitoring program effectiveness and suggesting enhancements. Collaborate with Attorney Development colleagues and other HR colleagues on employee relations matters, including performance management and investigations. Work with the Senior Manager of Human Resources and associates to develop agendas for Firm Associate Committee meetings. Manage implementation of attorney leaves, impact on hours and compensation, in coordination with Benefits and Finance. Manage the orientation and on-boarding processes for all attorneys, monitoring program effectiveness, and suggesting enhancements. Collaborate with Professional Development colleagues to help implement the Firms professional development strategy and ensures that unique local office needs are communicated and met. Plan and coordinate office events, including Lunch Bunch program, to enhance morale. Work with the HR coordinator to ensure active bar admission status in appropriate jurisdictions. Provide support to the Manager of Human Resources and Professional Staff Training and Development, as needed. Assist affinity groups as needed. Maintain own professional development by attending conferences and joining relevant networking groups. Travel to other California offices at least once per month and to the office as needed. Assume additional responsibilities as requested. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources required. Experience in a law firm required. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others. Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities. Strong planning, project management and organizational skills. Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level. Facility analyzing, working with and presenting data. Ability to collaborate and gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Firms attorneys and professional staff. Possess a hands-on tactical approach. Creative and proactive approach to problem solving. Facilitate teamwork and identify opportunities to develop new processes/infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to grasp and implement new concepts quickly. Strong analytical abilities, resourcefulness, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and positive style that fosters collaborative working relationships. Outstanding customer service. Deep personal commitment to integrity, excellent judgment, and the highest standards of ethics. Must display the highest level of diplomacy, tact and discretion, with comfort in handling and maintaining confidential information. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical.
