Paralegal - Family Law RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparing motions, Request for Order, Judgments, Findings and Orders, Declarations, and other judicial council forms. Keep cases organized; monitor calendars; documenting actions on each case; input information into file database, document billing hours; and confirming case status with the attorneys while maintaining all deadlines. Keep clients and opposing attorneys informed on case status and progress. Assist with trial prep; organizing evidence; prepare exhibits and exhibit lists; scheduling witnesses for court and depositions; and ensure that witnesses are ready for hearings.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. 1 year experience working in the area of family law is required. Working as a family law paralegal for our firm requires strong writing skills. Legal research, administration skills, litigation knowledge, ability to work without supervision, client relations, organization, planning, discretion, confidentiality, and dependability are necessary to be successful with our office. 1 year experience working with family law cases is necessary for you to be able to keep up with our office. The ability to propound and respond to discovery, prepare a Motion to Compel, or file a response to an RFO to modify custody and visitation goes without saying. Knowledge of family laws and rules, research, and local courts rules.
