Associate Attorney Duties: Provide general legal guidance to municipal client. Advise municipal clients, including mayors, city council-members, city managers, and department heads. Prepare ordinances, draft contracts, create resolutions and proclamations. Attend meetings of the City Council and various boards and commissions. Will practice in the field of Municipal Law to include the following areas of law: annexation; budget and fiscal management; economic development; elections and voting rights; ethics and professionalism; land use and development; law enforcement and municipal court; legislative consulting and advocacy; open meetings and open records; personnel and employment matters; procurement and construction projects; real estate transactions; utilities and telecommunications; water, wastewater and the environment. Requirements: Member of the State Bar of Texas. 2+ years of relevant legal experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work without close supervision and to independently produce error-free documents. Preferences: Demonstrated experience in Municipal Law, State or Local Government Law (Public Law or Administrative Law). Independent and self-motivating. Organized, dependable and steady. Capable of transitioning between numerous clients on multiple subjects daily. Innovative and resourceful problem-solver. Excellent communicator (oral and written). Committed to public interest / government-related law. Suited for private practice, including ability to generate billable hours. Deadline: June 15, 2018
