Paralegal/Administrative Assistant Part-time Duties: Supports and assists the attorney by developing case information, evidence, and settlement options; tracking cases; drafting legal documents and correspondence; and supporting attorney's trial proceedings. Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney. Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling hearings and meetings; preparing subpoenas and discovery requests; drafting petitions, responses, briefs and requests for order; preparing correspondence; generating status reports. Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress. Prepares billing statements and monitors case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and providers. Assists with trial prep by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed. Is responsible for filing documents with the court either in person, by mail or fax file. Support general office management by closing and storing files; ordering office supplies; responding to online inquiries; checking office email addresses; recruiting, training and supervising interns; and supporting the attorney in marketing. Qualifications: A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Paralegal certificate or 3+ years of experience as a paralegal in family law required. Undergraduate degree preferred. Strong communication and writing skills. Strong organization and attention to details. Reporting, research and legal administration. Effective client relations. Confidentiality and dependability. Ability to multitask, work independently and set priorities to meet deadlines. Knowledge of law and local courts. Bilingual (written and spoken) Spanish. Experience in immigration, civil, bankruptcy, probate and/or criminal law. Start Date: 4/11/2014
