Fort Lauderdale/Miami Immigration Associate Attorney The candidate will conduct an initial phone intake and legal consultation to determine eligibility for program services. Prepare, submit, and review immigration applications for the following: Asylum, Withholding of Removal, Convention Against Torture claims, VAWA petitions, Removal of Conditions, Waivers, Cancellation of Removal, U-Visas, T-Visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, Family Petitions, Consular Processing, Temporary Protected Status/Deferred Enforced Departure, DACA, Requests for Prosecutorial Discretion, Motions before EOIR. Additional benefits such as employment authorization documents, travel documents, renewal of permanent residence cards, FOIAs, Certificates of Citizenship, etc. Review clients' FOIA results and create strategies for their cases. Represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and the Board of Immigration Appeals; including attending immigration interviews, immigration court hearings, and Info Pass appointments if available remotely. Research legal issues, as needed. Support in-office and remote legal teams by answering their questions and coaching them, as needed. Maintain client database and files in accordance with program/legal requirements and guidelines. Comply with all legal ethical standards. Keep informed of changing immigration laws and procedures. Maintaining Bar membership through continuing education. Should have JD from an ABA-Accredited Law School. Active Bar License in at least one U.S. Jurisdiction. Experience in Immigration Law Required (2 years). VAWA experience is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Languages a plus: Haitian-Creole, Spanish, and/or Portuguese.
