Legal Secretary/Litigation Assistant The candidate will be assisting attorneys in managing cases and case files. Ensure client files are opened and closed in a timely manner. Answer calls, assist clients and callers whenever possible without giving legal advice; ensure that messages are complete and relayed in a timely manner. File and maintain documents in physical files and document management system. Maintain multiple attorney calendars; ensure meetings, deadlines and other important dates are updated and accurately recorded. Heavy calendaring and scheduling of depositions. Preparation of all litigation related documents including Pleadings, Discovery, Motions, Interrogatories, etc, which includes the input and maintenance of information into our case management system, PracticeMaster. Light tape transcription, typing and editing of letters and court documents. E-filing of court documents (both state and federal). Maintain case files (including the filing of all paper documents into the physical file). Handle highly confidential, sensitive and/or critical information, files, records and reports. Coordinate and manage personal workflow to ensure correct output of documents and assignments as instructed. The candidate should have 1+ year of administrative experience. Experience as a litigation secretary in the State of CT preferred. Experience in calendar management a plus. Experience with PracticeMaster a plus. Must have strong computer skills, especially in MS Word, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Proficient in state and federal court e-filing. Exceptional secretarial and administrative skills essential. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to multi-task while also adapting to changes in deadlines and changes in the nature of the assignment. Proficient in all aspects of MS Word and familiar with formatting and appropriate grammar and punctuation. Outlook and Excel experience.
