Medicaid Paralegal The candidate should have 3+ years of legal experience, possess a strong work ethic, and have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Meets with the managing attorney on a weekly basis to review the status of all pending cases. Client Contact - Communicates with clients, financial advisors, insurance companies via mail, email and telephone to gather information necessary to complete an application. Problem Solving - Proactively anticipates and resolves issues quickly to move the Application forward. Information Intake - Gathers and organizes necessary documents (i.e. financial records, vital statistics, etc) to file a completed Medicaid Application with DSS. Process Improvement - Makes recommendations to improve processes that will increase the service quality and efficiency and responsiveness to clients. Client Meetings - Meets with the client initially to have Medicaid application and supporting documents signed. Further meetings as needed to gather information. Timely Follow-Up - Organizes and prioritizes work so that deadlines are consistently met. Tickler System - Uses and regularly updates the firm s tickler system to track file activity and to document planned and completed work. Billable Time - Keeps track of and post all billable and non-billable work. The firm has a billable time goal of 80% for all legal staff. Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned, when necessary. Associates Degree or Certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved program. 2+ years of experience working as Medicaid paralegal or in a Medicaid related environment. Basic knowledge of Estate Planning documents, such as wills, powers of attorney, trusts and healthcare directives. Excellent client service and communications skills - both oral and written. Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Some knowledge of federal income taxes as they pertain to the liquidation of investments.
