Social Security Disability Attorney The candidate will assist clients in the application and appeal process for SSD benefits. Review and screen new client matters to determine likelihood of success. Consider and evaluate other income that would reduce the value of the disability benefit at issue. Identify appeal or statute of limitation deadlines. Review medical and vocational records. Provide reasonable expectations with regard to the timing concerns. Prepare clients and claims for hearings, including telephone conferences, preparing briefs, reviewing files/e-files, recommending both pre and post hearing actions, and completing post hearing summaries. Delegate matters as appropriate to a case manager and case manager support specialist. Handle a growing case load. Handle all aspects of client relationships including, meetings and telephone conferences, to address questions regarding claim. Must be able to provide own transportation and travel to hearings as needed. Represent clients at SSD hearings. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data. The candidate should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. At least 1 year of SSD experience. Three or more(3+) years of managerial experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret court documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from attorneys and staff; and competently represent clients in front of an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ). Ability to analyze and interpret financial information and its potential impact on a client s eligibility, commensurate with the ability to determine profitability per case. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Ability to interact on a professional level with upper management. Listens and obtains clarification; speaks clearly and articulately in positive and negative situations. Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar errors; varies writing style to meet needs successfully; able to read and interpret written information. Balances team and individual responsibilities effectively; contributes to building a positive team spirit within the workplace environment. Accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments in a timely manner. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in work; looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Follows instructions and responds to management direction quickly and appropriately; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals. Takes independent actions and calculated risks as necessary; asks for and offers help when needed. Have ability to prioritize and multitask.
