The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing dictation, formatting letters, pleadings, and other forms, preparing rough drafts, proofreading before finalizing legal documents, and more. Responsibilities: * Transcribe dictation and format letters, pleadings, and other forms * Prepare rough drafts, proofread before finalizing legal documents * Copy and mail all letters, documents, and packages to various parties * File legal documents with the Courts * Open new files, perform conflict checks, and draft acknowledgment or engagement letters * Maintain file content, indexes, and tabulations * Enter attorney billable time on a regular basis and proofread * Maintain attorney calendar by denoting due dates for answers, depositions, and other pleadings * Open and manage or route attorney mail * Review and confirm client bills and other invoices * Close and prepare files for storage * Prepare files for upcoming hearings and depositions * Answer and screen calls for attorneys * Schedule depositions as necessary * Mentor and train new employees in the position * Perform receptionist duties * Participate as a member of one or more strategic planning committees Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: * Knowledge of various court rules and filing requirements * Knowledge of the format of various legal documents * Broad knowledge of terminology (legal, medical, other) * Demonstrate spelling, diction, and grammatical skills * Demonstrate organizational, prioritization, proofreading, and attention to detail skills * Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in confidential matters * Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with diverse groups * Accurate typing ability of 70 wpm and comprehensive computer and office equipment experience * Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, as necessary * Ability to sit, bend, stoop, keyboard, and lift up to 50 lbs. * Ability to travel to offsite locations as needed Qualifications: * Bachelors degree preferred * 3 years of litigation experience required * 5 years of legal secretary experience preferred Salary: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
