San Diego office seeks a research services manager with 6-8 years of library experience with 3+ years of experience in a lead or management position. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing research services and resources for designated offices and practice groups. Responsible for the local implementation of National strategic research initiatives. Ensure that staff complies with national standards and practices and approved local practices. Gather staff workload metrics and provides a monthly statistical report to the Director. Promote continuous improvement of staff workflow to maximize both efficiency and quality. Responsible for developing and deploying local training initiatives to assure that all lawyers and staff are trained in the effective use of any information resources necessary for work. Assure that all research requests are handling in a timely and competent fashion. Manage all research services, resources and training for designated practice groups and offices. Assure participation of staff in supporting local and national requests for research support including complex research, online research, fact checking and document retrieval. Respond to attorneys' and support staffs' resource/research needs and questions. Address administrative issues presented by Library staff and administrative departments. Responsible for assuring that administrative functions including budgeting, acquisitions, collection development, facilities planning, status reports and records conform to national standards and practices. Participate in developing, promoting, and attaining the Department's strategic goals. Provide consistent direction and leadership to staff on projects and assignments. Responsible for hiring, coaching, developing and managing staff. Conducts performance management evaluations and reviews. Responsible for identifying opportunities for staff cross training, professional development and continuing education, trains library staff on processes and tasks within the library. Plan and delegate projects for library staff. MLS, MLIS or J.D. degree from an accredited program is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Law firm library management, legal and business research experience is strongly preferred.
