Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Drafting and answering discovery responses and preparing form pleading documents. Meeting with clients to facilitate information gathering, scheduling and court dates. Task creation and management. Document and exhibit preparation with Adobe software, including Bates numbering, combining and deleting pages, redaction and highlighting. Email processing both incoming and outgoing, including all copying and sorting. E-Filing processing both received and filed, calendaring, follow up and sorting. Scheduling, coordinating and confirming court reporters, mediators, experts, and interpreters. Entry of efiling expenses into system and acceptance of client payments. Assisting with IT issues, including computers and telephones. Timekeeping and hourly billing. Monitoring supplies and inform office manager if needed items. Answering telephone calls and directing the calls appropriately. Screening and scheduling consultations, sending consultations intake sheet and collect fee. Setting up client files and maintain the same electronically. Close client files through established process.
Qualifications: A paralegal Certificate or bachelor's degree is preferred. 2+ years of previous legal office experience or 4+ years of office management is required and previous administrative/office experience is necessary. Familiarity with Colorado civil court system. Ability to organize, index and summarize financial information and discovery documents. Must be competent and familiar with advanced functions in Microsoft Word and Excel and will need to learn firm-specific software.
