Paralegal The candidate will manage a caseload of 300-350 clients and will have experience with handling claims at all adjudication levels including the Appeals Council. Will complete client intakes, file initial applications and appeals, assist client with completing SSA forms, analyze cases in consultation with Director of Legal Operations/Hearing Representative, and develop the file by securing pertinent medical and opinion evidence. Involved in the lead to prospect to client conversion process by calling leads, completing new prospect intakes, and determining which cases are takes and which ones are turnaways. Involves completing new client intakes; submitting representation forms; filing timely appeals; preparing files for the hearing; filing AC and USDC appeals. Responsible for consistently checking on each client s case and continually updating the client with status updates, any new paperwork received from SSA that requires action on our or the clients part, or to educate/counsel/and manage the client s expectations. Assists in training the legal secretary who may serve as a right-hand man/woman for the paralegal. In times, when the legal secretary or administrative assistant are not available, the paralegal can step in and help take care of their duties as well. Serves as a right-hand man/woman to the attorney or non-attorney rep by assisting with brief writing, legal research, drafting letters to the hearing office and court, as well as answering client questions, and helping shield attorney time. Takes care of day to day tasks for assigned cases, files all appeals, answers emails and phone calls regarding legal matters of the case, answer client questions regarding case, provides monthly case status letters/phone calls, makes sure medical records are up-to-date, keeps attorney abreast of the case status. Qualifications: High School Degree. 3-5 years' experience in the legal industry as a paralegal. Ability to build rapport with potential new clients, employees, clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: Bachelor Degree. Ability to plan, problem solve, prioritize and multi-task. Detail oriented and extremely organized. Experience with Dropbox and client management software programs preferably Prevail. Ability to efficiently handle multiple assignments/tasks that will produce quality work. The jobs requires compassion, exceptional client service and the desire to make a positive impact in the lives of our disabled clients. Ability to use good judgment and provide exceptional client service in all dealings with internal and external contacts, even in high stress situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present information to attorneys, clients, and Social Security Administration. Ability to keep track of many details concurrently and adapt quickly to changing deadlines and assignments. Fast learner, high degree of initiative and ability to work unsupervised efficiently. Must be able to take direction and be a team player. Familiarity with using computers for preparing, organizing and maintaining documents and files.
