Litigation Associate Attorney The candidate will be familiar with drafting business related operational documents. Read and become fluent with the Rules of Civil Procedure, the appellate rules of procedure, local rules of court, along with how each are applied in caselaw. Draft motions that will be served on opposing parties, using the firm's template as the foundation for the requests, including motions for: dismissal; summary judgment; judgment on the pleadings; to compel discovery; to quash evidence; to strike evidence or argument; In limine; and other miscellaneous motions that may be filed from time to time. Draft replies for all motions filed. Draft memoranda in opposition to motions received from opposing parties, applying the firm's practices regarding making objections and providing substantive responses in a persuasive narrative format. Draft trial briefs with the assistance and input of the lead and discovery lawyers. Draft all settlement demands for review by the lead attorney. Draft all appellate briefs and notices of appeal. Review all Protective Orders from the firm's template before being filed with the court. Meet other job requirements found in the operations manual, including billable hours and the attorney's individual case and firm goals. Working as part of a team with a team lead and paralegal. Timely completing tasks pushed out by the firm's litigation work flows, while suggesting improvements to help standardize the processes that lead to best-in-class service. Utilizing the firm's templates as much as practical, while developing new templates for repetitive tasks as appropriate. Maintaining and suggesting improvements to the firm's motion processes while creatively and proactively seeking new and innovative ways to improve performance and efficiency. Should have a Bachelors and JD degree from an accredited law school. Should preferably have 2 years of litigation experience licensed to practice law in Ohio. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is needed. WestLaw is required. Focused, with a strong attention to detail. Must be analytical, with an ability to think critically. Organize with the ability to make sense of large amounts of information is a plus. High follow-through, where tasks are prioritized and completed on time is essential.
