Legal Secretary - Family Law Duties: Provides administrative support to one or more attorneys. Creates, formats, proofreads, and edits documents. Prepares new client matter request packet and coordinates approval; coordinates conflict search processes; prepares retainer letters. Transcribing dictation, including letters, pleadings, discovery, etc. Drafting of routine pleadings and preparation of same for filing with the court. Drafting Income & Expense Declarations/Schedules of Assets and Debts from client drafts. Formats declarations from client drafts. Communicates to and on behalf of his or her attorneys using Firm technology. Enters, tracks and coordinates new client/matter information. Arranges continuances of court hearings with court and opposing counsel. Maintains electronic and paper files in accordance with Firm guidelines. Maintains and monitors attorney calendars. Coordinates and/or books reporters for deposition. Organizes and coordinates conference calls and client meetings. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Associates degree preferred. 3+ years of California family law legal secretarial experience a must. Proven experience as Legal Secretary -family law. Knowledge of constitution, legal terminology. Knowledge of Office 365 and Document Management System. Ability to work with legal technology (court filing computer systems, transcription software). Outstanding time-management and typing skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and. Comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people. Speaks and writes English clearly and succinctly.
