This firm is often at the top of the list of prominent Boston law firms. Large and growing, these lawyers are well-connected throughout the Boston area, and are looking to increase the reach of their influence. With beautiful offices (that seem to go on and on...) the lawyers here are generally quite happy with their practice. Why? At the associate level, lawyers are given a bit more responsibility than your average law firm lawyer, and depending on the practice group, given quite solid training and structured mentoring. Although the partners are increasingly conscious of the billable hours of their associates, they are generally accessible. In particular, several of the litigation partners bring in high level litigation work and remain very involved throughout to monitor and guide the associates participation.
Senior Paralegal, Capital Markets (SPAC) The candidate will assist with EDGAR and EDGAR Filer Management, Nasdaq and NYSE applications, Ticker Symbol Reservations, CUSIP Numbers, Confidential Treatment Applications, 34 Act annual reporting matters, public company governance matters, and other tasks as assigned by attorneys and paralegal staffing relating to various capital markets and securities offerings. Develop an independent understanding of basic ideas and/or legal concepts involved with the types of matters to which he/she is likely to be assigned, and seeks such information on assigned matters. Handle unexpected issues that arise during the course of a project. Effectively perform a task or project to the next, similar project, with no re-explanation, and can at times apply this knowledge to different types of tasks, in order to create efficiencies. Understand how clients business needs related to work assignments without explanation. Handle assignments involving complex matters or fact patterns with supervision from attorneys. Proactively stay informed regarding changes in the law pertaining to the practice area. The candidate should preferably have a BA/BS degree. Experience of 3-5 years of experience, Paralegal Certificate, or qualifying work experience required. Experience on both issuer and underwriter side of capital markets transactions preferred. Must possess strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to exude a high level of attention to detail. Should be capable of handling multiple responsibilities and work well in a team-oriented environment. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
